Newport-Fersan pledges Over $15 Million to Support Agricultural Recovery After Hurricane

Kingston [July 30] – In a significant show of support for local farmers impacted by recent hurricanes, Dennis Valdez, Managing Director of Newport-Fersan (Jamaica) Ltd., announced a donation of $15.4 million in agricultural inputs at an official ceremony in Kingston.

Aligned with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Mining (MOAFM) and endorsed by the Hon. Floyd Green, this announcement includes the provision of 3,000 bags of fertilizers and pesticides. Of these, 2,000 bags will be allocated to the MOAFM for distribution, while 1,000 bags will go directly to farmers and other agricultural entities across the island.

This contribution is part of Newport-Fersan’s ongoing commitment to bolster the agricultural sector’s recovery from the devastating effects of hurricane Neryl. The company has a long history of supporting Jamaica’s farmers, and this donation reinforces their dedication to helping local communities thrive in challenging times.

The donation features Newport-Fersan’s Booster line of fertilizers, specially blended in Jamaica. This innovative product provides essential nutrients during the plant’s three critical growth phases: initiation, vegetation, and production. By offering superior nutrient content, the Booster line aims to enhance yields and serves as a valuable alternative to traditional fertilizers on the market.

The ceremony was attended by key stakeholders, including Hon. Floyd Green, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining; Marina Young, CEO of RADA; Winston Simpson, Principal Director of Technical Services at RADA; Michael Pryce, Senior Strategist in the MOAFM; and representatives from the Banana Board Extension.

Newport-Fersan is proud to be Jamaica’s leading supplier and manufacturer of premium fertilizers, committed to supporting the nation’s agricultural growth and sustainability.
